The Tension Table was designed as a dining table for urban dwellings where space is often limited. My objective was to create an elegant dining table suitable for entertaining that could be easily broken-down or assembled without tools or fasteners. This inherent flexibility would allow the table to be stored when not in use.

The solution is a table that relies on gravity and tension to remain assembled. This is achieved using formed legs that rest in groves cut in the table top. The weight of the table leverages the legs against the table top to keep them firmly positioned. Without tools, the table can be quickly assembled and disassembled by a single individual.

Constructed of polyurethaned OSB, stainless steel tubing, and stainless steel cable.
